The Fallsview Crochet Cowl

I love teaching others new crochet stitches and am constantly learning new crochet stitches too.  I usually practice my new stitch by making a washcloth.  They are small and easy to make, very practical and provide a sense of accomplishment.  While I like to practice this way, I know not everyone loves to do that.  Sometimes something a little more sophisticated, but still easy, is desired.   In my learn to crochet classes crocheting a basic, but pretty cowl is always a favourite thing to do.

I mean who doesn’t love to sport a new creation and when the compliments come in, say “Oh thanks!  I made it!”  I had used other patterns to teach the learn to crochet class, but kept running into the same problems with them.  Keeping these issues in mind, a new design was born to cover them all and yet leave you with a beautiful handmade project at the end – The Fallsview Crochet Cowl.  It helps that I had a beautiful view to look at as I worked away at it.

Niagara Falls. They are stunning and the raw power they contain is awe inspiring.

The purpose of this learn to crochet pattern is to introduce chain stitch, single crochet and double crochet along with the basics of counting stitches, basic joining (whip stitch) and weaving in ends.  The most important thing to learn is that basic stitches can be combined to make incredibly beautiful pieces.

Please enjoy this pattern and the cowl you will make.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me and I will do my best to answer your questions.
