The Georgian Cowl

I LOVE mosaic crochet!  I first learned how to do it a few years ago from designer Tatsiana of Lilla Bjorn.  I have been in love with it since.  I have so many drafts ideas in my sketch books it has gotten to the point that I do not know which one to start with.  Thank goodness for the practicalities of life that intervene and help us get down to business.  My local independent yarn shop wanted me to teach Learn to Mosaic Crochet.  Continue reading “The Georgian Cowl”

The Aviemore Headband

Do you love cables? I love cables, but I just don’t knit. It’s a lot like watching me on skies, far too many things for me to try and coordinate successfully, lol. A number of years ago I learned to do Tunisian Cables.  They are beautiful and I love adding them to projects or just making them the whole project, like this headband. The Braided Beanie

I am so excited to show you this!  I have been so busy working on learning, or trying to learn, WordPress and working on some larger projects that time has flown by and I have not posted anything.  I was also in dire need of a quick fix of “completion satisfaction” to motivate me to finish some of my bigger projects so I made this hat. It is worked from the bottom up and Continue reading “The Braided Beanie”

The Kemback Cowl

I have loved Tunisian Crochet since I was 7 years old.  At that time I was taught that it was called the Afghan stitch.  My reading since has revealed this type of crochet has no historical roots in either Tunisia or Afghanistan.  Apparently, no samples of the fabric made with Tunisian Crochet Continue reading “The Kemback Cowl”

The Myra Scarf

The Myra Scarf

One of the things I love about teaching Learn to Crochet or any Crochet class is that you get to meet new people.  New people have new ideas and new requests.  My favourite request is when one of the ladies picks up a knitted project in the yarn shop or shows me a picture they have seen and asks “Can I crochet this?  Where do I get a pattern for it?”  This is the challenge…can I crochet this and put it into a pattern?  And so this pattern came from one such request. Continue reading “The Myra Scarf”

Looking to the New Year

Did you make a New Year’s resolution this year?  Or a number of them?  I stopped making “resolutions” a number of years ago as it seemed to be dooming the goal before it even started.  We constantly hear about how most New Year’s Resolutions usually fail by the end of January and at the latest the middle of February.  And yet, Continue reading “Looking to the New Year”

The Fallsview Crochet Cowl

I love teaching others new crochet stitches and am constantly learning new crochet stitches too.  I usually practice my new stitch by making a washcloth.  They are small and easy to make, very practical and provide a sense of accomplishment.  While I like to practice this way, I know not everyone loves to do that.  Continue reading “The Fallsview Crochet Cowl”
