About

I have crocheted for over 38 years now.  Like any art it sometimes wanes and at other times flourishes.  In the 80’s and the early 90’s it definitely waned for me.  Oranges, yellows and browns mixed with the granny stitch and the granny square just did not invigorate me nor relax me.  However, after going through a very stressful period in my life I picked up my crochet hook again and enjoyed the incredible therapy and relaxation that it provided.  Most of that time period is filled with blankets of basic stitches that allowed me to engage in the melody of the rhythm of basic stitch patterns.  I would call them “left over blankets” as they used up other people’s stashes.  They are more commonly known as scrap-ghans.

Recently, crochet has evolved at a rapid pace, like most things these days, and the new techniques and stitch combinations are endless.  Thanks to the endless list of possibilities creativity abounds.  And so I have found myself loyally committed to a number of designer/bloggers who have shared their ideas and talents over the last few years.  As I learned new techniques, which really are just variations of the same old stitches I began creating my own works.  Many of them at the request of my ever daring daughter, who seems to think “mummy can crochet anything for me”.  I loved the idea of blogging and sharing the designs I created and that my children inspired, but I always convinced myself I couldn’t do it.

Just over a year ago, I began teaching others to crochet both formally and informally.  This process has pushed me to this day that I thought would never arrive; to start my own blog.  I needed a platform for my students to be able to watch videos and review information that I have given them during their lesson.  It is truly a natural segue when teaching to have the information available to each class member throughout the week, along with help via email.

I find endless relaxation, retreat and restoration from my crochet and the creative process that accompanies it.  It is my hope to share that with others.

So pick up a hook, some magnificent yarn and lets enjoy!
